Before "Impact" I had only DJed my High School Dances, a few house parties and a couple teen clubs. This was the very first party I threw in an actual nightclub. Don't know how I pulled it off, looking back I wasn't 21 yet and somehow came off to the owners that was of age. They didn't even question my age. Different times I guess.
The Heinz Club was this strange two-story bar in Oakland. A few years later I actually saw an amazing show there at the Heinz Club with Michael Franti and Charlie Hunter. If I remember correctly the DJ booth was the elevated closet type that is a huge pain in the butt to get records and gear into.
The night wasn't much of a success but looking back this was a huge milestone for me that emboldened my confidence to attempt more, large scale parties and club nights. In many ways I view this party as the starting point of my professional DJ/Promoter career.
Here's the front.
And here's the back.
