Michael Knowlton Opening Reception at 01 Gallery
An All Vinyl Ambient Soundtrack by Mixmaster Massey
“. .nightmares of industrial wasteland . . . like Piranesi’s prisons, they possess a strange and compelling beauty. . . stage sets for armies of wild characters who act out their dreams of avarice and lust."
John Gunin — Juxtapoz Magazine on the Paintings of Michael Knowlton
Fall of 2008 I was honored to have the opportunity to play an art opening at a downtown location for 01 Gallery. It was a special night of art from Michael Knowlton and his Blackwater Babylon series of paintings. It was a great turnout and I was asked to bring turntables to set the mood for the night, which reflected the vibe of the art and the crowd. The all vinyl set was recorded and I’m pleased to share it with you here.
It’s an hour and 15 minutes of spaced out downtempo, chilled out psychedelic shoegaze, beatless ambient sounds and some surprises at the end.
